Early Tuesday morning, February 4, 2025, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a fire in an eight-storey residential building in the 100 block of Hendon Avenue.
Crews responded at 6:40 a.m. and launched an attack on the blaze, declaring it under control by 7:50 a.m. Paramedics on site treated three patients and transported them to hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
The City of Winnipeg Emergency Social Services team also responded to help residents who were temporarily evacuated due to the fire. A Winnipeg Transit bus provided temporary shelter for those who had to leave the building, although most residents were able to remain in their homes while emergency crews completed their work.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and no estimates of the damage are available at this time.
