The fire came extremely close to the community that is located 450 Kms northwest of Winnipeg. Residents had to be evacuated with very little notice last week. 70 from Easterville were sent to The Pas and the others drove to Winnipeg to wait out the fire.
Many people were unable to take their pets when they evacuated so the RCMP stepped up to ensure the animals had food and water.
