Fire destroys former band office in Gods Lake Narrows

RCMP has arrested and charged two men in connection to a fire that destroyed the former band office in Gods Lake Narrows.

Police received a report of two men causing a disturbance at the former band office and one of the men was armed and threatening to light the building on fire.

When police arrived they found smoke coming from the building which was being used to store supplies and historical records.

The local fire department was able to extinguish the blaze but the building is likely a total loss.

Officers were able to identify two suspects with help from the community.

39-year-old Delmar Hastings, of Gods Lake Narrows, was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement with Arson – damage to property and Utter threats to property. 

45-year-old Erin Kanabee, of Crane River First Nation, was arrested and charged for his alleged involvement with Arson – damage to property, Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and Possession of incendiary material.
