Fire destroys a St. Boniface auto repair shop

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service were called to a fire at a vehicle repair facility on Provencher Boulevard around 8:20 pm on Thursday, February 20, 2020.

This was the second call to the same address within two hours. Around 6:15 pm firefighters also responded to reports of a fire that was in the parking lot adjacent to the stucture.

When firefighters arrived on scene around 8:25 pm they found the building well-involved in a fire. Flames and heavy smoke were shooting out of the structure.

An offensive attack was launched but had to transition to a defensive attack once conditions became too dangerous to fight the fire within the building.

Two ladder trucks were used to fight the blaze from above over the next several hours.

Traffic in the area was closed in both directions on Provencher between Tache Street and Aulneau Street.
