Winnipeg firefighters are heroes to one Waverley Street family after rescuing their dog during a house fire early Wednesday morning.
Just before 1:30 am Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a blaze in the 200 block of Waverley Street.
Crews attacked the fire and were able to knock it down and put it out just before 3:00 am.
According to the city, the house suffered extensive water on the first floor and smoke damage throughout the entire building.
The family had evacuated prior to WFPS arriving. One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
