Fire crews respond to two fires on Monday evening

Henry Street Fire

At 4:42 pm on Monday, October 25, 2021, a fire in a residential high-rise in the 100 block of Henry Street triggered a two-alarm response from emergency crews.

When firefighters arrived on scene they located a suite that was fully-involved with flames and smoke. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 5:14 pm.

Crews evacuated residents in the building, No injuries were reported.

Once the building was ventilated most residents were able to return to their suites.

Nairn Avenue Fire

Minutes before 7;00 pm firefighters responded to a fire in a vacant one-and-a-half storey house in the 400 block of Nairn Avenue.

The fire was well-involved when crews arrived on the scene. A defensive attack was launched due to unsafe conditions in the building. Firefighters used a ladder truck and landlines to attack the blaze.

Neighbouring homes were evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters are expected to remain on scene well into the night.

The cause of both fires are under investigation.
