The cause of a fire at an apartment building in the 200 block of St. John’s Avenue is currently under investigation.
Fire crews were called to the scene shortly after midnight on Monday January 17, 2022. When the arrived they found smoke in the building and initiated an offensive attack. Occupants of the building were evacuated and were sheltered in a transit bus while WFPS crews dealt with the situation.
The fire was declared under control in about an hour, and most residents were able to return to their suites. Fire damage was contained to the apartment where the fire started, but several additional suites suffered smoke and water damage. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
