In the early morning hours of June 14th a WPS Canine Unit was in the area of Logan Avenue and Ellen Street when a suspicious male was observed.

Police pursued the man who was running through yards as he tried to get away.

Officers finally caught the suspect in the 200 block of Laura Street and found him to be drunk and in possession of a previously stolen loaded 22 calibre rifle and ammunition.

Enrique George COURCHENE, 22 years of Winnipeg has been charges with numerous firearm related offences.

Later in the day at around 5:40pm WPS Cadets came to the aid of a man having a medical emergency behind the 300 block of Portage Ave. While helping the man, Cadets observed him to be in possession of a handgun.

 Further investigation reveiled that the gun had been stolen in Winnipeg in September 2015.

A 36 year old male has been charged with several firearm related offences. He was remanded into custody.
