Lieutenant-Governor Janice Filmon is resting comfortably after undergoing surgery for breast cancer on Monday, September 30, 2019.

Filmon was absent from the opening of the legislature today. The throne speech was delivered Chief Justice Richard Chartier who is also serving as the Administrator of the Government of Manitoba while Filmon recovers.

The administrator possess the full power to execute the office and function of the lieutenant-governor.

The Filmon’s have asked for privacy during the recovery process.
