Fewer COVID-19 tickets issued last week

The provincial government noted on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, that COVID-19 enforcement efforts appear to be working.

Between December 7 and December 13 the number calls to report infractions and the number of tickets issued are down. 5,764 calls were received and 48 tickets were issued.

Of the tickets issued seven went to businesses for various offences, 41 went to individuals including five tickets for failure to wear a mask in indoor public places.

Currently businesses that ignore public health orders face fines of $5,000 while individuals face fines of $1,296. Failure to wear a mask in indoor public places will get you a fine of $298.

Five people were ticketed $1,296 as part of the ongoing enforcement efforts related to weekend services at Church of God (Restoration) south of Steinbach.

The province also reminded Manitobans that public health orders will still be in effect during the holiday system. Limits on gathering in private residences remain in place.
