Female injured during assault and robbery on Main Street

Winnipeg Police are investigating two related armed robberies on Friday night, December 17, 2021 on Main Street.

Police say a male in his 20s was walking in the 1600 block around 10:30 pm when he was confronted by two males. One of the suspects pointed a gun at him and a struggled with the victim. The victim was able to flee to a nearby vendor and contact police.

About ten minutes later a female was assaulted and robbed at Main Street and Atlantic Avenue. During the confrontation with the suspects the victim was struck with the machete causing a severe injury to her leg.

Police say a bystander found the female and rendered first aid and called police. Paramedics transported the female to hospital.

Officers with the assistance Air-1 searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
