Female in her 20s dies from COVID-19, 51 new cases identified

51 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the province today. Two additional deaths were reported due to the virus.

The people who died from COVID-19 are identified as:

  • a female in her 20s from the Winnipeg health region; and
  • a female in her 90s from the Winnipeg health region, linked to the outbreak at Park Manor Care Home.

The five-day test positivity rate is currently 3.2 per cent provincially and 2.6 per cent in Winnipeg.

The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 32,051.

Today’s cases are from the following health regions:

  • zero cases in the Interlake-Eastern health region;
  • 26 cases in the Northern health region;
  • zero case in the Prairie Mountain Health region;
  • three cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and
  • 22 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are currently 1,143 active cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba with 30,005 people listed as recovered.

181 people are being treated in the hospital of which 62 are considered infectious. 24 people with the virus are in Intensive Care Units with 9 of them still considered infectious.

The total number of cases related to variants of concern is eight (6 – B.1.1.7, 2 – B.1.351)

903 Manitobans have died since COVID-19 first arrived in the province.

2,227 tests were completed yesterday. Since the virus first arrived in February 2020, there have been 531,949 tests completed.
