Female in custody after attempting to stab a Winnipeg Transit driver

Winnipeg Police have a 41-year-old female in custody after she allegedly attempted to stab a Winnipeg Transit driver on Sunday evening, July 24, 2022.

According to police the female got onto an eastbound Portage Avenue bus and began causing a disturbance. The driver stopped the bus and asked the woman to leave. The suspect then pulled out a knife and tried to stab the driver around the protective barrier.

The driver told everyone to flee the bus then jumped out the driver’s side window to get away from the woman. The suspect then fled on foot.

Officers quickly located her near Portage Avenue and Camden who was brandishing a knife and had to use a taser in order to take her into custody. A search of the suspect located a second knife in her possession.

41-year-old Destiny Dawn Harry has been charged for her alleged involvement with Assault with a Weapon. two counts of Possession of a Weapon and Fail to Comply with Release Order.
