A-21-year-old female is in custody after she allegedly carjacked a security vehicle at Polo Park Shopping Centre on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.

According to police, a security officer was patrolling the parking lot in a marked security vehicle when the suspect jumped onto the hood. The suspect then tried to open the passenger door and enter the vehicle. The security officer got out of the vehicle while it was still running and went to the passenger side of the vehicle to remove the suspect. She then shoved the guard, got behind the wheel of the vehicle and drove away. The security officer suffered a minor injury to his arm.

The vehicle was tracked using GPS and officers were able to locate and stop the vehicle near McGregor Street and Mountain Avenue. The suspect was placed in custody.

Police have charged the female for her alleged involvement with Robbery, Possession of a Scheduled Substance (Methamphetamine) and Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance.
