A three-vehicle collision in the late afternoon on Thursday, January 18, 2018, has claimed the life of a 42 year old female just north of Southport.
The collision happened around 5:15 pm at the intersection of Provincial Road 240 and Provincial Road 331.
RCMP say that a 70-year-old male was driving southbound on PR 240 and was waiting to turn east onto PR 331 when he was hit from behind by a van being driven by a 42-year-old female from Portage la Prairie.

The car was pushed into the ditch. As the driver of the van got out to check on her 4-year-old son who was a passenger in the van she was hit by a pickup truck. She was taken to hospital and died shortly afterwards.
The 67-year-old female driver of the pickup did not suffer any injuries. The driver and passenger in the other car were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 4-year-old was taken to hospital as a precaution but did not appear to have suffered any injuries.
The intersection was until early Friday morning so that the investigation could be conducted.
