On Saturday, January 6, 2018 RCMP responded to a house fire in the community of Badger, about 120 kilometres southeast of Winnipeg.
When emergency crews arrived the building was engulfed in flames and fire crews were unable to save the home located on Pine Avenue.

When the blaze was finally put out a search of the structure resulted in the discovery of human remains.
The Office of the Fire Commissioner and the RCMP are investigating the cause of the fatal fire.
