One woman is dead after she tried to evade police, smashed into a truck and flipped both vehicles
Police say a patrol car had indicated for the woman to pull over prior to the crash. When they activated their emergency beacons the driver pulled away at high speed.
According to Constable Rob Carver it does not appear that officers involved accelerated to pursue the driver after they turned on their lights.
The woman was taken to hospital but died of her injuries.
The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has taken over the investigation. The IIU investigates all serious on-duty and off-duty incidents involving police officers in Manitoba.
The crash happened around 4:00pm in the city’s north end at Sinclair and Boyd.
