Collisions claim lives of two people Saturday

RCMP are investigating two separate collisions that claimed the lives of a 25-year-old female and a 39-year-old male.

Early Saturday morning, June 23, 2018, police were called to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Highway 11 in Sagkeeeng First Nation.

Police say the female was lying on the highway when she was hit by a vehicle being driven by a 48-year-old male from Rosenort. The male driver contacted police and an investigation determined that the woman had been hit earlier by another vehicle.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have information about the hit and run to contact them at (204) 367-8728.

Later Saturday Morning a two-vehicle collision near Dauphin claimed the life of a male pickup driver after the vehicle he was driving hit another pickup. The occupants in the other pickup were taken to hospital. A 55-year-old male is suffering from non-life threatening injuries but his 50-year-old female passenger is reported to have life-threatening injuries.

Both collisions are under investigation.
