A tragic two-vehicle collision on December 31, 2024, has left one person dead and another with minor injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 6:35 pm at the intersection of Highway 1 and Settlers Road in the Rural Municipality of Springfield.
The Oakbank RCMP reported that a 32-year-old male driver from Winnipeg was traveling northbound on Settlers Road when his vehicle entered the westbound lane of Highway 1. The vehicle was subsequently struck by a westbound SUV.
Unfortunately, the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, an 18-year-old female from the RM of La Broquerie, sustained minor physical injuries.
The Oakbank RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, are continuing their investigation into the cause of the collision.
