Police say that the SUV being driven by the 57-year-old male was trying to pass another vehicle when he collided head-on with a pickup truck.

The 40-year-old driver of the pickup truck was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the driver of the SUV was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

A third vehicle that had been passed by the SUV hit the debris from the head-on and ended up on the side of the road. There were no injuries reported from anyone in that vehicle.

Police say that alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision

RCMP continue to investigate.
