On July 20, 2016 at around 5:45 pm, emergency personnel responded to the area of Main Street and Logan Avenue regarding a serious collision involving a semi-trailer and a bicyclist.
Police determined that an adult female was riding her bicycle northbound on Main Street on the west sidewalk approaching Logan Avenue. The semi-trailer was also travelling northbound on Main Street while making a westbound turn on Logan Avenue when it collided with the female. The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition where she died because of her injuries.
Investigators have not positively identified the deceased woman as she had no identification with her at the time of the accident.
The victim appears to be in her late 20’s or early 30’s, having a thin build and medium length dark brown hair with distinctive tattoos on her left arm.The bicycle she was riding was a Barletta ATB 12 with white with grey writing.
The driver of the semi-trailer has been identified and is cooperating with investigators. No charges have been laid at this time.
The Winnipeg Police Service is asking anyone that may have information regarding the identity of the deceased or who may have witnessed the collision to contact investigators in the Central Traffic Unit at 204-986-6271.
