A tragic accident occurred late Sunday night when a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Portage Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard. The Winnipeg Police Service responded to the incident at approximately 10:45 p.m.
The pedestrian, a woman, was critically injured in the collision. Members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service were on the scene and promptly transported her to the hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, she later succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigating officers. The Traffic Division’s Collision Investigation Section has since taken over the investigation.
Authorities are now seeking assistance from the public in their ongoing investigation. They are particularly interested in any video footage that may have captured the incident, including dash camera footage from vehicles that were in the vicinity at the time of the collision.
