A tragic car crash claimed the life of a 43-year-old man from Pinawa on Sunday afternoon. The Lac du Bonnet Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) received a report of a vehicle in the bush at Highway 11 and Peterson Crescent in the RM of Lac du Bonnet at approximately 3:30 pm.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the deceased male in the bush outside of the vehicle. Despite a thorough search of the surrounding area, no other individuals were found.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the northbound vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 11 when it missed a bend in the road. The vehicle subsequently entered the ditch and struck an approach, causing it to go airborne into the wooded area. The driver was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
The RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation into this fatal incident. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
