A 26-year-old male has been charged for his alleged involvement in a July 31, 2021, assault on a three-year-old child.
Police say that an adult relative was providing childcare when the child was assaulted. An adult family member in a separate suite within the residence heard the child crying wand went to the suite to investigate. The family member found the injured child. The accused was still in the suite but fled when the family member arrived.
The child was taken to hospital for treatment in stable condition.
Members of the Child Investigations Unit took over the investigation. A warrant was issued for the arrest of the caregiver after he continued to evade police.
On Saturday, November 6, 2021 officers located and arrested Fabian Bushie. He has been charged for his alleged involvement with Assault with a Weapon, three counts of Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking and Possession of a Weapon.
Bushie was detained in custody.
