For those who like a bargain or like doing a little fall cleaning next weekend, September 16 and 17, should put a smile on your face.

Winnipeg’s Fall Giveaway Weekend will once again offer free, good-condition items throughout the city. There are two ways to participate. If you have reusable or unwanted items taking up space in your home (and we all do) that are in good condition, place them at the curb on your front street and label them with a “FREE” sticker or sign. Make sure to store items you don’t want to give away out of sight. Items must be removed from the curb no later than dusk on Sunday.

You can also take part by driving around the city looking for items you can use and giving them a new home.

Tips if you are cruising the curbs looking for treasures

• Take only the items at the curb marked “FREE”
• Check all items closely to ensure they are safe and in good condition before you put them in your vehicle or bring them into your home
• Don’t walk or drive on private lawns or gardens
• Don’t discard any items on private property
• Obey the traffic laws at all times (e.g., don’t block traffic, park illegally, or block driveways with your vehicle), drive safely, and watch out for children
