Brandon Police have arrested a 33-year-old man who allegedly identified himself as an undercover police officer.

Police say that on June 10, 2019 the suspect approached a female and told her he was a police officer.

The fake cop then convinced the female to go into an apartment that was available for rent. Once the pair were inside he demanded sex from her and told her that if she refused she would be arrested and go to jail for prostitution.

Brandon Police began an investigation after receiving a report of sexual assault and were able to identify the suspect.

Investigators found the impersonator on Wednesday June 12, 2019 and placed him under arrest.

He has been charged with Sexual Assault and Personating a Police Officer.

Brandon Police remind the public that all undercover police officer have badges and ID cards that they will present when identifying themselves.
