An EXTREME COLD WARNING has been issued by Environment Canada for southeast Manitoba including the city of Winnipeg. Wind chills of -40 to -43 continue to hit the region late Friday morning.
It is expected that Wind chills will hover around the -40 or above this afternoon however it will remain very cold today. Winds from the south will be brisk and will keep the temperatures in the -30s for the rest of the day.
On the good news side it is expected that we will get relief from the biting cold as the weekend progresses and temperatures early next week should be in the low minus single digits.
Environment Canada is warning Manitoban’s that the extreme cold is dangerous and that people can be at risk of frost bite or hyperthermia if they are not dressed warmly.
