Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for most of Manitoba including the City of Winnipeg.
Bitterly cold arctic air will remain over the province into the new year. Extreme wind chills are expected to exceed -40 in southern Manitoba and -45 in the north.
It is expected to warm up by Wednesday as an approaching system will bring much warmer air with it.
With extreme cold come increased health risks including frostbite and hypothermia.
