WINNIPEG WEATHER

Extreme Cold Warning issued for Manitoba

Even though Manitoba Merv didn’t see his shadow on Groundhog Day and he predicted Spring is around the corner it is going to get pretty cold between now and then.

On Saturday, February 3, 2018, Environment Canada issued an Extreme Cold Warning for most of Manitoba, including the city of Winnipeg.

According to our national forecast service, an arctic ridge of high pressure is building through the prairies.

Strong winds and temperatures approaching -30 overnight will bring extreme wind chills of -40 or colder into Sunday.

Although it is expected that the extreme wind chills will dissipate by midday on Sunday below normal temperatures are expected through the rest of the week.

REMINDER

If it is too cold for you to stay outside it is too cold for your pet to stay outside.

Exposed skin can develop frostbite in a matter of minutes when temperatures reach these extremes.
