Expired plates lead to drug trafficking charges in Brandon

A traffic stop by Brandon police turned into a drug trafficking investigation early this morning, October 11, 2018.

Police say that just after 1:30 am they stopped a vehicle on Pacific Avenue after running the plates and finding out they were expired.

The male driver was in possession of a small bag of methamphetamine which prompted a search of the vehicle and the recovery of about 35 grams of meth and 10 grams of Cocaine.

The 19-year-old driver and a 30-year-old female passenger were taken into custody.

The pair were charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking.

The male was held in custody, the female was released on a promise to appear in court.

Police estimate that the street value of the drugs was about $5,300.
