Manitoba RCMP are using their social media feeds in a unique way to tell the story of a murder victim from 1986.
15 year old Kerrie Ann Brown disappeared from a party in Thompson on October 16, 1986. Two days later her body was found alongside a horse riding trail. She had been beaten, raped and ultimately murdered. The murderer has never been caught.
This Sunday, exactly 30 years to the day of her disappearance RCMP in Manitoba will be dedicating their social media feeds to tell the story of Kerrie’s last day alive.
Each message will be sent at the approximate times that the events actually occurred in 1986
“My family has never recovered from the death of my sister. It is our hope that through this new initiative, someone will remember seeing my sister that night “said Trevor Brown, Kerrie Ann’s older brother. “I know someone is out there that has information, I want them to know who my sister truly was, I want them to come forward.”
Social media is a medium that engages viewers and the RCMP are hoping this unique approach will help generate new information and possible tips to solve the case and bring justice for the victim of this crime.
“We never give up. If there is a new way to get information out to the public about a case we support it” said Cst. Janna Amirault, the RCMP’s lead investigator into the murder.
The first message will be sent at 8:00am on Sunday morning with others following throughout the day.
