A 45-year-old inmate in the minimum security unit at Stony Mountain Institution just north of Winnipeg is back in custody after making his escape Sunday night.
Officials from the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) say that Aban Galin, serving a sentence of three years, three months and 29 days on drug and weapons charges was not accounted for during the 9:45 pm count at the prison on Sunday night, October 4, 2020.
Officials at the institution notified RCMP of the escape and a manhunt began.
At 5:10 am on Monday, Winnipeg Police Service contacted CSC to advise them that officers had captured the inmate.
CSC is investigating the circumstances surrounding the escape.
