RCMP in Lynn Lake say that 46-year-old escaped prisoner Daryle Johnson contacted them and indicated he wished to turn himself in.
Johnson had escaped custody on Saturday afternoon, August 7, 2021, when officers were preparing to transport him to Leaf Rapids. When he was led out of the Lynn Lake RCMP Detachment he ran off into a nearby wooded area. Officers chased after him but lost sight of him in the woods.
Around 10:00 pm on Monday, August 9, officers went to the local church where Johnson was waiting and placed him into custody without incident. Johnson was still wearing the handcuffs he had on at the time of his escape.
Johnson has been charged with Being Unlawfully at Large.
