Semi-trucks block highway as man on road acts erratically

RCMP arrested a 44-year-old man after he was found standing in the middle of Highway 6 acting erratically and threatening to shoot people.

It happened about 68 kilometres north of Grand Rapids on Saturday February 23, 2019.

According to witnesses, the man became increasingly violent and at one point began banging his head against and punching the window of a semi truck and threatening the driver. Several semi drivers blocked off the highway until police arrived.

When officers got there they found the agitated male but he refused to listen to officers. Police arrested the man.

About a kilometre north of the incident the man’s vehicle was located. Officers saw footprints leading into the woods and as they approached the vehicle a female came out of the woods and walked towards the vehicle. The woman was searched and methamphetamine was found in her possession. A search of the vehicle uncovered illegal pills and a knife.

The 44-year-old Brandon man is facing charges including Mischief, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose x2, and Possession of a Controlled Substance x 3.

The 42-year-old female was arrested and according to RCMP charges are still pending.
