Winnipeg firefighters responded to an automatic alarm at the Emterra Environmental facility on Henry Avenue around 8:20 am August 8, 2019.
Heavy smoke was seen coming from a rubbish fire in one of the structures as crews arrived on scene. The fire was making its way to another structure along an elevated conveyor belt say fire officials.
Crews launched an offensive attack on the rubbish fire while other firefighters worked to protect the fire from spreading to another building.
The fire was under control by 9:12 am
No injuries were reported. Staff at the facility were able to make their way out of the facility before firefighters arrived.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
