Winnipeg Police have arrested a 32-year-old City of Winnipeg employee after city owned property was stolen.
Investigators identified a male suspect and on April 19, 2019, executed a search warrant in the town of St. Adolphe about 30 kilometres south of Winnipeg. Police found the stolen property and will charge the employee with one count of theft over $5,000 for his alleged involvement.
Police say the property in question included a decommissioned fire hydrant, copper wire and propane tanks worth about $8,500 as scrap metal.
Th suspect worked for the city’s water and waste department.
The suspect was released on a promise to appear in court.
