Emergency Medical Care provided by police at Multiple Incidents

In a series of incidents over the weekend, Winnipeg Police Service officers provided emergency medical care to victims of violent attacks.

Incident 1: Carlton Street and Cumberland Avenue On April 13, 2024, at approximately 2:15 p.m., General Patrol officers swiftly responded to a stabbing incident near Carlton Street and Cumberland Avenue. The victim, an adult male, suffered a serious injury. The officers applied pressure to the wound, stabilizing the victim until paramedics arrived.

Incident 2: 1000 Block of St. James Street In the early hours of April 14, 2024, Tactical Support Team officers raced to the 1000 block of St. James Street following reports of another stabbing. There, they found an adult male with a severe lower-body injury. A tourniquet was applied to the victim, potentially saving his life.

Incident 3: 300 Block of Maryland Street At approximately 1:45 a.m. on the same day, General Patrol officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Maryland Street. The victim, a male in his 50s, had sustained stab wounds. The officers skillfully applied a chest seal, ensuring his safety during transport to the hospital.

Incident 4: Salter Street and Anderson Avenue Minutes later, at 1:50 a.m., officers responded to a report of yet another stabbing near Salter Street and Anderson Avenue. The victim, a young man in his 20s, received immediate attention. Officers applied a chest seal, preventing further harm.

These unrelated incidents are now under investigation by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
