Firefighters responded to three fires overnight that appear to have been accidental.

At 9:57 pm on August 1, 2023, firefighters were called to a three-storey apartment building in the 500 block of Corydon Avenue. Crews found heavy smoke coming from the structure and launched an interior attack. The fire was declared under control at 10:26 pm.

One person was assessed by paramedics at the scene but did not require transport to hospital.

Initial observations indicate the fire was accidental due to cooking.

At 1:15 am on August 2, 2023, crews responded to a fire in a home on Miravista Drive.

The fire was quickly extinguished. The cause of the fire appear to be related to cooking according to officials.

A third fire on Hastings Boulevard was deemed accidental due to improper disposal of smoking materials.

Crews were called to the scene of that fire around 5:20 am. Firefighters launched an interior attack in the two-storey complex declaring the fire under control at 5:51 am.
