Emergency crews responded to the Red River around 12:42 pm on Friday August 6, 2021, after receiving a report that an individual was seen in the water. Witnesses say they saw the person go under the water but did not see them resurface.
Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and the Winnipeg Police Service River Patrol searched the river for two hours before finding the victim deceased.
Winnipeg Police are investigating how the individual ended up in the river.
