The City of Winnipeg will be spraying in the south end of the city as part of the Elm Bark Beetle Control Program beginning on Monday, September 10, 2018.
Elm Bark Beetles carry Dutch Elm Disease which is devastating to Winnipeg’s Elm tree population.
Trees in the La Barriere, Parc La Salle, Perrault, Richmond Lakes, St. Norbert, Trappistes, Turnbull Drive, Agassiz, Cloutier Drive, Fort Richmond, Montcalm and University areas will be treated with a chemical that is sprayed on the lower 50 centimetres of each tree with portable sprayers.
The city says that treatment for the pests will occur between 5:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday to Friday depending on weather conditions.
