Electrical malfunction causes Provencher Boulevard fire

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service says that an electrical malfunction was to blame for an early morning fire on Provencher Boulevard.

Firefighters were called to a two-storey building around 2:43 am on Sunday, May 3, 2020, after smoke was seen coming from the structure.

As they arrived on scene thick black smoke was billowing from the rear of the building.

An offensive attack was launched and the fire was brought under control just before 4:30 am.

The building suffered significant smoke, fire and water damage.

The cause of the blaze is considered accidental.
