Electoral Divisions Boundaries Commission releases final report

The 2018 Manitoba Electoral Divisions Boundaries Commission have released their final report.

Of the 57 Manitoba electoral divisions, the Commission has made changes to 56 of them including changing the names of 14 divisions.

The redistribution of voters between the various electoral divisions is to ensure an even distribution within a set variance of -5% to +5% of the targeted quotient of 22,427 people in each of the 57 different ridings.

“To maintain public confidence in the electoral division redistribution process, public consultation is vital,” said Chief Justice of Manitoba Richard Chartier, Chair of the Commission. “The public’s submissions greatly assisted us in making the final determinations of the boundaries.”

The new boundaries will be in effect for the next provincial general election. If a byelection is called before that the 2008 boundaries would be in effect.
