Just before 8:00 pm on Friday, March 13, 2020, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a fire in a one-and-a-half storey home on Manitoba Avenue.
Heavy smoke was seen coming from the building as emergency crews arrived.
Firefighters immediately launched an offensive interior attack and were able to get the blaze under control by 8:30 pm.
Fire officials say that everyone in the home were able to evacuate before emergency crews arrived due to a working smoke alarm.
Eight people were assessed by paramedics and then taken to hospital.
Fire investigators believe the blaze was accidental. They say that indications are a curtain came in contact with a light bulb setting off the fire.
