Manitoba Education Minister Kelvin Goertzen took to social media on Monday morning, June 22, 2020 to announce the date that schools will reopen for students across the province.
The minister posted that schools will reopen after Labour Day on September 8, 2020. Goertzen noted that ” This is the traditional start time for students.”
Teachers will be expected back on week earlier on September 2nd to prepare spaces and learn about the new health protocols being put in place.
Schools suspended in person classes in March and shifted to an online learning model.
Goertzen said that he posted the information on social media ahead of an official announcement in the coming days “More details on the School Reopening Plan will be announced soon. In the interest of planning for families and schools however we wanted to provide this information today.”
