Winnipeg Police say that a 27-year-old Edmonton man is facing a number of charges related to internet luring after a Winnipeg teen was found in his home.
Police say that they received a missing persons report on December 2, 2019, about a 14-year-old female who had left a note stating she had run away.
Investigators from the Winnipeg Police Service Counter Exploitation Unit began an investigation. Investigators believed the teen had been lured online by a 27-year-old Alberta male. Police say that the teen had been communicating with the adult male since April 2019.
On December 3, 2019 police in Edmonton found the teen at the mans residence and returned her to Winnipeg.
Investigators continued looking into the case and on laid charges after the suspect turned himself in on March 27, 2020.
Brian Adison Anthony Vidrih from Edmonton has been charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Luring a Person Under 14 years of age by Means of Telecommunication (x3)-
- Luring a Person Under 16 years of age by Means of Telecommunication
- Abduction of Person Under Fourteen Years of Age-
- Abduction of Person Under Sixteen years of age
He was detained in custody.
