Early morning Langside Street Fire under investigation

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a structure fire just before 3:00 am on Saturday, July 4, 2020, on Langside Street just south of Sergeant Avenue.

Thick dark smoke and flames greeted responders as they arrived on scene.

An offensive attack was launched.

Firefighters brought in a ladder truck that used a thermal imaging camera to check for fire in the two-and-a-half storey home.

Multiple crews were on scene so that they could be rotated due to the extreme hot weather conditions.

The fire was contained in less than an hour.

Five people were assessed by paramedics on scene but did not require hospitalization.

The fire investigator was on scene talking to residents in the area about the property and fire and will determine the cause of the blaze.
