Three early morning assaults being investigated

Winnipeg Police are investigating three separate assaults that happened in the early morning hours of June 2, 2019.

Portage Avenue

Police say that around 3:45 am they responded to an assault near Portage Avenue and Spence Street. When officers arrived they found an adult male who had been injured.

He was taken to hospital in unstable condition but has been upgraded too stable.

Langside Street

Around the same time police also responded to an assault in the 400 block of Langside Street.

The victim was found in critical condition and taken to hospital. He was later upgraded to stable condition.

Notre Dame Avenue

Less than an hour later, around 4:35 am, police were called to a third assault downtown. This time to an area near Notre Dame Avenue and Arlington Street.

An adult male had been assaulted and was suffering from critical injuries. He was taken to hospital but died during the day.

Investigators are now treating this assault as a homicide.

The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Justin Silicz from Winnipeg.

Police have not said if the three incidents are related
