Dufferin Avenue townhouse fire under investigation

Firefighters responded to a fire in a two-storey townhouse in the 200 block of Dufferin Avenue on Monday afternoon, January 3, 2022.

The call came in around 2:24 pm and as crews arrived they encountered heavy smoke coming from the structure. An offensive attack was launched and the fire was declared under control at 2:51 pm.

Winnipeg Police officers helped to evacuated residents before firefighters arrived on the scene. No injuries were reported.

Three cats were rescued from the townhouse and handed over to Winnipeg’s Animal Services Agency.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
