Two drug raids send three to jail last weekend

Winnipeg Police Guns and Gangs Unit have made several arrests stemming from two separate raid on Winnipeg residences.

On Friday August 23, 2019 officers executed a warrant at a suite in an apartment building in the 400 block of Cumberland Avenue. A 30-year-old male and a 26-year-old female were arrested and have been charged for their alleged involvement with a number of drug trafficking and weapons related offences.

During the raid police seized about $11,700 worth of Meth (19.5 oz), $5,000 worth of Cocaine (2.5 oz), $1380 in cash, A loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun with a tampered serial number, A .303 bolt action rifle and ammunition, a sawed-off 12 gauge shotgun with ammunition and body armour.

Both suspects were detained in custody.

The next day police raided another home, this time on Young Street. One 31-year-old man is facing trafficking, weapons and property-related charges for his alleged involvement.

Police say that the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant netted them about 17 ounces of Meth ($10,200), one gran of Fentanyl, $4,170 in cash, Along with property that had been stolen from a St. James business.

The accused was detained in custody.
