Two men and two women are facing multiple charges after police found them sitting in a parked vehicle that had been reported stolen.
The incident began around 11:45 pm on Saturday, September 10, 2022, when an officer from the Traffic Safety Section was on patrol near Ashburn Street and Richard Avenue and spotted the vehicle.
As the officer was trying to talk to the people in the vehicle an adult male began to struggle with him. The second male attempted to flee in the stolen vehicle. The officer used his taser on both males but one was able to flee on foot. He was captured by other officers a short distance away.
As the investigation unfolded police learned that the male who had fled had assaulted a man in a nearby business as he tried to get away from police. The victim did not require medical attention.
Police took the two females who were in the vehicle along with the other man into custody.
Officers seized a number of items during their investigation including:
- Sawed-off 9mm rifle with obliterated serial number
- high capacity 9mm magazine
- 9mm rounds of ammunition x 11
- 8 grams of Methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value = $400)
- Marcus Garnet BLACKSMITH, 29, of Winnipeg, was charged for his alleged involvement with:

- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Weapon
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime
- Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted or Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 4
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Prohibition Order
- Assault

Clarissa Christeen MOORE, 36, of Winnipeg, was charged for her alleged involvement with the following offences:

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime
- Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Possession of Scheduled Substance Methamphetamine
- Mischief Under $5000/ Obstruct in Enjoyment
She was detained in custody.
A 25-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing the following charges for her alleged involvement:

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle

- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
She was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
